The paintings are a reflection of the way in which we experience space in day-to-day life. We walk down a street, through a doorway, into a room - we then assemble these fragmentary experiences and impressions to form our own idea of a whole - a mental map of the space through which we have traveled.
I am interested in the act of perceiving - of how we experience through our senses - and how this can be translated to artwork.
Triangles have become a very present element in my visual language. For me a triangle is the simplest way to create the illusion of 3D space.
Paintings and catalogue
All paintings are acrylic on canvas and the size is 115 x 89 cm. The canvases are the same size because I wanted to treat them as equal parts of a puzzle. Each painting can stand on its own and is also part of a whole. The basic
structure of each painting is a net built up of meticulously painted triangles, and the counterpart is formed by rivers of free flowing paint.
